MAINE AUTO BODY SHOP AUTO BODY DENT REPAIR
SERVING NEARBY AUGUSTA MAINE AUTO BODY SHOP DENT REPAIR CUSTOMERS
There are a lot of Auto Body Shop estimates out there that include replacing outer body panels because it would cost too much to put all the hours in to fix them with body filler (Bondo). The type of replacement panel can range from LKQ (USED PART), or QUALITY REPLACEMENT PART (AFTER MARKET PART meaning not made by the original auto maker) or NEW PART. Replacement parts can be costly as well, especially when adding in the labor to install and cost to paint. Proper fit and function can also become an issue when replacing panels.
There are also a lot of estimates written to repair these panels sometimes with lots of hours to cover the time to fill large areas with body filler.
That’s been the repair options until paintless dent repair came along. Paintless Dent Repair can completely remove dents without painting on undamaged paint. In the case that a dent needs to be painted now there is a PUSH FOR PAINT, also known as PUSH TO PAINT and PULL TO PAINT paintless dent repair service available to provide a better standard of repair. If it is determined that the vehicle is going to need paint for various reasons such as it has cracked paint or deep gouges in the metal etc. Then the fine paintless dent repair process can still be used. This allows to eliminate or greatly reduce the size of the dent and the amount of body filler (Bondo) used by a body shop before painting.
PUSH TO PAINT IS A QUALITY REPAIR OPTION THAT YOU MUST ASK FOR OTHERWISE A SHOP WILL OFFER STANDARD REPAIRS.
Lets go over an example of a roof that has been determined replacement was the way to go. Typically this is a large undertaking by an Auto Body Shop that could involve things like removing and reinstalling many surrounding parts such as glass and trim. The roof would be cut off, welds drilled or ground out the new roof fit and welded or weld bonded on with glue. Then sometimes body filler is needed to fix dents from handling and welding or to make a smooth transition onto the surrounding panels. All of that is quite an invasive undergoing. But the alternative perhaps would have been to use body filler on the old roof and it could have been determined that too much filler would be needed.
This is where PUSH FOR PAINT could come into play for the right candidate. In many cases the paintless dent repair tech can push the metal up using our special training to such a close level that the panel would only need very little body filler (Bondo) in much smaller areas and thinner as compared to conventional auto body dent repair. Sometimes the repair could be finished by the Auto Body Shop just by sanding the paint flat without it needing more filler or possibly no need for filler at all.
This Push to Paint can be used on any of the outer sheet metal body panels. This could be especially beneficial to aluminum vehicles such as the Ford pickup truck. Aluminum used on vehicles is a lot different than hardware store aluminum which is soft and easy to bend. Auto makers blend other metal alloys into automotive body panel aluminum to make it strong. This hardened aluminum requires special auto body equipment and repair techniques. Some of these techniques expose bare aluminum thus needing special cleaning and coatings. There are times that this is unavoidable, but there are times paintless dent repair could be used instead. Without stud welding or exposing bare metal, PUSH TO PAINT and GLUE PULL TO PAINT can satisfy corrosion protection measurements and offer a better repair approach as compared to a standard aluminum auto body repair.
Take a look here and see the PUSH FOR PAINT process used on a 1998 BMW Z3 that came into a Maine Auto Body Shop. The vehicle had peeling clear coat and stone chips with dents, so the vehicle needed paint anyway.
PUSH FOR PAINT was used, and in this case it eliminated any need for body filler (Bondo) at all.
